Since 1968, Golden Manor has been committed to the philosophy that our residents deserve the very best care and most compassionate services we can provide.
Each day, the first question we ask regardless of the issue is, "What will be the most beneficial to the residents?" All that we do is guided by the answer to that question.

The latesreveals that Golden Manor meets and exceeds standards set for nursing homes.

  • Facilities: Resident's rooms at Golden Manor are as diverse as the residents themselves. Each is equipped with a private bath built to accommodate those who are fully ambulatory, as well as those who are wheel-chair bound. The majority of rooms are oversized and private, allowing residents to express their unique taste and creativity. Photos, mementos and plants, in addition tt information from the Department of Aging and Disability Services o favorite pieces of furniture, help create a personal haven for each resident.

The facility itself, specifically designed with the comfort and building ease of older persons who may have limited vision, is surrounded by grassy lawns and trees. Floor to ceiling windows throughout the building allow residents to enjoy nature all year around. The dining room offers a view of the beautiful outside landscaping. Special facilities include private lounges, where residents can watch television, play table games or visit with their neighbors. A large assembly hall serves as the site of bingo games, movies, parties, exercise sessions, special programs by groups of youngsters, and more.

  • Care: It is important for you to know that at Golden Manor, the Medical Director and director of Nurses work closely with private physicians and the staff to ensure the highest quality care. There is a registered nurse on duty each day. Every nurse's aide is certified for rehabilitation and the ratio of aides to residents far exceeds the standard set by the Department of Health and Human Services.

What is more important, however, is the dedication of our staff members, as well as their expertise, experience, and compassion for each resident with whom they interact. Many of the staff members have been with Golden Manor for more than 20 years while most of the aides have been at Golden Manor for five years or more. This low turnover ensures staff members have the chance to build strong rapport with residents and continuity of care.

Families are encouraged to visit often and to take an active role in the care of their loved one. At Golden Manor, staff members serve as advocates for residents, often developing close and lasting friendships with family members in the process.

  • Activities: Meaningful and creative activities fill the days at Golden Manor. On any given morning, you may find residents engaged in print making, textile painting, copper embossing, or ceramics. Art and music therapy, with their opportunities for growth and creativity, are an integral part of programming and a source of great pleasure for residents at Golden Manor. Even residents with severe visual or physical impairments are encouraged to participate, receiving special adaptive materials and instructions.

Arrangements: Golden Manor is open to the entire community regardless of race or religion, with priority given to residents of Bexar County and South Texas. Each applicant is charged a monthly rate, based on ability to pay, which includes all services and amenities, but excludes any specialized equipment or medical treatment. Both Medicare and Medicaid are accepted and residents and responsible parties are asked to comply with all co-pay provisions as directed by each agency. At Golden Manor, all residents receive the same high level of service and care regardless of their financial situation.
